YSL Muse Betty Catroux Speaks Out On YSL's Name Change And Relocation

The fashion world has been abuzz with reactions to the recent news that Yves Saint Laurent, under Hedi Slimane’s forthcoming direction, will be changing the brand’s name to Saint Laurent Paris. Slimane, Stefano Pilati’s successor has also rocked the boat by relocating the design office from Paris to Los Angeles, where he has been based previously.

And today a woman that probably knows the brand better than anyone else, Betty Catroux commented on his decision. “All Hedi's decisions are brilliant and it is so clever of him to work in Los Angeles — in peace, away from everything, under the sun” Catroux told WWD.

Catroux, a former YSL muse has had a long history with the brand.  She was a lifelong friend and collaborator of Yves Saint Laurent himself, and when Tom Ford took over the helm of creative director, he dedicated his first YSL Rive Gauche collection to her too. So we reckon her comment really counts, and as huge fans of YSL here at Grazia HQ, we’re happy to see some positive feedback to one of Slimane’s first big decisions at YSL, or should we say SLP!
