Wow! All of this secretive business surrounding Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated fragrance launch has been a right ole emotional roller-coaster. It seems like not a week goes by when we are fed a new snippet of information about its upcoming launch.
A few weeks ago now we learnt that the fragrance was to be called Fame and would not smell like blood and semen as originally reported, but like an expensive hooker instead. This information arrived after a naughty US magazine editor leaked a photo of the outer bottle and its packaging along with its name via Twitter, much to La Gaga’s annoyance. What cheekiness! We simultaneously discovered that the scent would be the very first black eau de parfum and that once it was airborne it would transform into a clear liquid and deliver “a true metamorphosis when worn on skin.”
Then earlier this week, two hours after revealing via her Twitter feed that she would be giving her fans a preview of the ad for her new fragrance, the lady herself posted it on her Web site, www.littlemonsters.com, and linked to it via Twitter.
There, in all its glory, was the black-and-white Fame ad, shot by none other than Steven Klein and featuring a nude Lady Gaga wearing a black mask and many many little miniature men, who appear to be clambering all over her and protecting her modesty in what we must admit, is a most novel fashion. Very Lady Gaga. Very fabulous.
Then today, just in time for the weekend, Gaga’s first promotional video has made a grand appearance on the world wide web featuring bare chested men working away over bubbling beakers at “Haus Laboratories” in Paris. With a sexy French voice over and plenty of honey being sloshed around over plump, juicy apricots it’s all very sexy and suggestive, but we’re just left wondering where the naked men from her ad campaign have gone…? *Sigh.*
