Way back in spring 2010 there came into existence a beauty look that made history as it became the most-worn backstage beauty look of all time. Created by hairstylist supreme Guido Palau, it caused a veritable beauty-storm from the very moment that it first appeared at New York’s Pier 94 fashion week venue. ‘The collection is based on American sportswear. There is a lot of sweatshirt material,’ top hair stylist and Redken Creative Consultant Guido told us backstage on the day. ‘So the hair is very girly, beachy, cool. It’s a little bit 1970s and we’ve added extensions simply for length so that the braid is long and loose. There’s an ease to it: the low swept over side parting, pinned at the side loosely with all the braids sitting round to the front.’ Finally a look and was simultaneously sexy, cool and casual!

Subsequently, the style has been spotted on everyone from our very own Grazia Beauty Editor Lauren Murdoch Smith, to Diane Kruger, Kate Bosworth, Blake Lively and Selena Gomez. When we caught up with Cheryl Cole in summer 2010, we showed her a picture of the ‘Wang’ and she then asked us if she could keep the bit of paper, before wearing the style for the entire next week!
Then, last night the super gorgeous Victoria Beckham re-ignited our fire for the braid when she chose it for her appearance with Anna Wintour at Vogue’s Fashion Night Out in New York last night, pairing it with that fiery orange dress. Doesn’t she look divine? Check out our gallery above to see all of the celebrities who have trialed the style.
