Versace's Couture Line Atelier Versace To Launch Jewellery Collection This Week!

In the fashion world, there is no rest for the wicked…while fashion editors have had a packed show schedule in London and Milan attending the menswear shows over the past week, they will be going straight onto Paris on Sunday to attend five days of Haute Couture shows. Phew!

What will make a VERY exciting start to the show schedule however is the news that the Versace house will be showing their debut couture jewellery collection along with the Atelier Versace line. The range is a selection of 16 hand-sculpted rings made with diamonds, yellow diamonds, emeralds, sapphires, amethysts, aquamarines and citrine gemstones. The Atelier Versace line, a collection of mostly evening dresses, is all handmade, with intricate detailing and as unique as is expected from the extravagant couture shows. We expect the jewellery line to reflect these qualities too. Donatella Versace told WWD, “As a designer and a collector of fine jewellery, I have always wanted to offer the same quality of craftsmanship in jewellery as we offer with the Atelier Versace fashion collection. Each individual ring from the collection is a work of art.”

This isn’t the brands first foray into jewellery, as Gianni Versace first launched the Versace fine jewellery line in 1994. Donatella then re-launched the line in 2008 by collaborating on one of a kind pieces with artists Marc Quinn, Julian Schnabel and Wangechi Mutu, to raise money at auction for the Whitney Museum in New York.
