Veiled Sirens Stalk the Catwalk at Armani Couture

Veiled Sirens Stalk the Catwalk at Armani Couture

We love it when couture beauty looks take a turn for the theatrical and at the Giorgio Armani couture show in Paris yesterday, it was embellished veils no less, which took centre stage in the backstage area as the Italian designer proved that hats are, like, so last season.

Crystal embellished, transparent numbers hung elegantly over slicked down, side-fringed ‘dos, and matched the deep blue and black hues of the garments. Set at sunset, with the first model stepping out against a backdrop of dusk, there was something ridiculously romantic about the whole affair. Swoontastic, to say the least.

While the majority of veils were beaded and bling-ed up to the nines, other models sported blue shards jutting out in angular precision or small, rounded headpieces tilting down over one eye. With Armani letting his accessories do the talking, there was little left for the make-up to do, but ooze an extra dose of the sultry aura supplied by the veils. Eye shadow was a sober palette of greys and blue-ish tints, barely noted as the dusky light caught the jewelled, oriental chic of Armani’s heady (in both senses of the word) accessories.

Excuse us for the shameless lusting; we’re just debating how to continue our veiled love affair without hitting the bridal department or taking on a tad too much of a coutryside bee keeper look.
