Top swimwear trends for 2012: prints, frills and neon colors

International Swimwear and Lingerie event Mode City will take place in Paris July 7-9. Ahead of the event, the organizers offered a preview of some of the biggest swimwear trends to emerge for the Spring/Summer 2012 season including prints, frills and flashy neon colors.

1990s-inspired
1990s inspired high street styles will make an impact during the Spring/Summer season. The trend will also emerge in swimwear with colorful and vivid patterns, including florals, polka dots and animal prints. But the experts at Mode City predict that color block designs will steal the show with citrus, electric blue, fuchsia and red bursts.

A "pin-up" look
Retro vintage looks will also dominate, translating in the realm of swimwear into high waist bottoms, as well as prints, stripes, polka dots, frills and ruffles. A two-piece suit including a high waist bottom and a bandeau style or triangular necktie top will offer the most elegant style.

One piece and bandeau suits
The offerings for the next summer season will allow women to find the best swimwear for their body shape. Fans of one-piece swimsuits will be happy to know that the style will be a highlight at the beach. However, experts from Mode City say it will be best worn with large straps, moderate-cut bottom and a deep neckline. Two-piece styles will also be on-trend -- to be associated with denim shorts or fluid long skirts.

Resort wear
Big brands and designers have come up with resort collections to match the swimwear pieces. Light, long and fluid items like sheer blouses, long kaftan dresses and fluid pants will offer an interesting total resort look.
