Oooh we just go all soft and romantic this time of year. We’re complete suckers for Valentines day. Some spend it in a flurry of card-opening and bouquet receiving, some, well, we buy our body weight in chocolate bars and head home, Brigit Jones box set and gaggle of friends in tow.
One thing that unites us all on the rather lovely holiday of Valentine, is our mutual appreciation for all things rouge. In between fending off suitors and the likes, Style Hunter has been pounding the pavements to find style inspiration for V-day. And what a result!

Why It Works
- Not ready to go all Nicki Minaj in a full red cloak this 14th Feb? Red can be an overwhelming hue to get to grips with, so stick to a rouge accent.
- Red doesn’t often lend itself well to patent or faux leather, so try stick to cotton or suede accessories for a more chic and subtle nod to the colour.
- Not all skin types and hair colours work well with red. If that’s the case, pop it on your feet in a pretty shoe, for the pop of colour without the shock factor.
- Last but not least, there is nothing wrong with a bit of matchy matchy when it comes to red accessories. We love a strong red lip and bag combo, or a red leather belt with some ultra-femme nail varnish. Et-voila! Rouge done right!
