Robert Pattinson in 'Cosmopolis': Twitter highlights from Cannes

Film reviewers approved of Cosmopolis upon its Cannes premiere, but fans expressed reservations when a rumor linked its leading man Robert Pattinson to The Hunger Games.

"Cosmopolis is absolutely nothing like I thought it would be, but totally ace nonetheless," exclaimed Alex Woodward (@AWLies) of movie magazine Little White Lies. "R-Patz is the real deal."

A "cerebral inquiry into a collapsing economy reflected in a collapsing mind," said Polish critic Michal Oleszczyk (@michaloleszczyk) of Cronenberg's film, finding Pattinson's turn "surprisingly strong."

Steven Zeitchik (@ZeitchikLAT) of the LA Times was among those who struggled with aspects of the novel's adaptation, as Don DeLillo's "elliptical language on page becomes hot air on screen." Nevertheless, "Rob Pattinson is reasonably convincing."

Of the fans, Cosmopolis's in-car shots nearly put off @SomeLostBliss, whose blog tracks both Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.

"Almost left 20mns in the movie bey. I was already sick and the limo constantly moving was making it worse omfg." But perseverance bore fruit. "Rob was amazing in it. Especially at the end. Overall: Liked it, go watch it when you can."

@Kalusakura enjoyed plenty of re-tweets for her own post-screening response: "It took me 20 minutes after Cosmopolis ended to twit back. RPatz was that good."

But many fans bristled at the news that Pattinson, star of The Twilight Saga, was in the frame for The Hunger Games' second outing. "No no no no!," "DO NOT LIKE," and "it will ruin The Hunger Games" were typical of the initial reactions.

Others, like @geekgirldiva, took the long view. "I kinda hope Robert Pattinson does Hunger Games. People forget that, before Twilight, he was Cedric Diggory [in Harry Potter] and we liked him."
