In honor of Paris Menswear Fashion Week (June 27-July 1), Relaxnews catches up with designers Bella Saakova and Francis Ronez, who will showcase their Bill Tornade Spring/Summer 2013 collection June 30. Here, the creative duo shares their style secrets and sources of inspiration.
Relaxnews: Which famous man best represents your Spring/Summer 2013 collection?
Bella Saakova and Francis Ronez: [French actor] Guillaume Canet represents our collection perfectly, because he personifies nonchalant elegance.
RN: In your opinion what are the three Spring/Summer 2013 wardrobe essentials and why?
BS and FR: A "Mackintosh"-inspired coat, a suit composed of somewhat cropped cigarette pants and a jacket with a narrow lapel, and a shirt with a hidden button placket. To be worn with thick-soled loafers, an updated version. So preppy, so chic.
RN: Which summer holiday style can't you stand?
BS and FR: A tight t-shirt paired with overly worn wide-cut jeans, a big loud belt and too much hair gel.
RN: Which film best represents your latest collection?
BS and FR: We were inspired by the movie Breathless by Jean-Luc Godard. The preppy look of the 1960s plays a role in the scenario of our summer collection.
RN: Where is the most unusual place you go to seek design inspiration and why?
BS and FR: Art galleries, vintage shops and photo archives.
RN: Which object couldn't you live without on holiday?
BS and FR: A camera because inspiration can be found everywhere: in people, on walls, in the streets and in the colors of life all around. Fashion is in the air!
