Model Kate Upton defends her curves, says 'I’m not NOT eating'

Swimsuit model Kate Upton is no stranger to being the center of attention, as she made headlines earlier this year when she appeared on the February cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.

The 20-year-old, who has modeled for the likes of Guess and Victoria’s Secret, has re-introduced the fashion world to voluptuous models, similar to the likes of Anna Nicole Smith, Cindy Crawford, Elle MacPherson and Tyra Banks from the ‘80s and early ‘90s.

But not everyone agrees with the curvaceous new fashion and beauty icon. Recently, blogger “Skinny Gurl” critiqued Upton, calling her “lazy and lardy,” and further pointed out that Upton had “huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs, terrible body definition—she looks like a squishy brick.”

The model-bashing has encouraged a “Is she fat or just plain curvaceous?” debate, with several Yahoo! readers calling her “chubby, a little big, and fat.”  Others have rushed to her defense calling her “hot, super sexy” and commented on her “great body.”

A report by Yahoo! Shine blogger Sarah B. Weir reveals that Upton has taken all the comments in stride. She hasn’t directly responded to her haters, but in a recent interview with the Sunday Times UK she said, “My body is something that you have to work out and eat healthily for. I’m not doing drugs or not eating. I want to enjoy life and I can’t be enjoying life if I’m not eating and miserable.”

Weir quotes the New York Times, who stated that Upton is 5’11, and her measurements are 36’-25’-34’. The model’s rep calls the comments “absurd” and defends her by saying “Kate’s gorgeous and very healthy.”

Yahoo! SHE readers: Do you think Kate Upton represents a healthy representation of the female form?
