Make everyday Valentine's Day

How to be romantic for 31 days...and beyond

The day of hearts is definitely a huge event. It’s a day when the prices of flowers go up, restaurants are packed, and traffic is horrendous. But the purpose of all this madness is really just one thing: to show the one you love just how special he is to you.

But can you imagine if you did this every single day? Just how strong will that make your relationship? What about doing one special thing for your significant other every day of the month?

Day 1 – Write something cheerful and motivational (You can do it! You’re a star!) on a Post-It and stick it where he’ll see it: on his laptop, briefcase, or wallet.

Day 2 – At a random time of the day, send him a text saying, “I love you” or “I miss you.”

Day 3 – Call up his buddies and invite them for dinner. He’ll be glad to see them.

Day 4 – Buy his favorite dessert and surprise him with it at the end of a tiring workday.

Day 5 –
Get a copy of his favorite movie (even one you’ve refused to watch before because it’s really not your type), make some popcorn, and set up the DVD player.

Day 6 –
It’s a weekend! Why not whip up his favorite dish for lunch or dinner?

Day 7 – Treat him to a day that’s all his? Tell him he can call the shots: what restaurant you’ll eat in and what movie you’ll watch. No complaining!

Day 8 –
When you’re together today, put your phone on silent and focus on only him.

Day 9 – Find an activity you can do together that will be good for both of you: running, yoga, badminton? You’ll not only bond, you’ll stay healthy!

Day 10 –
Make him a playlist of songs dedicated to him and put it in his iPod.

Day 11 –
Call up his favorite radio station and dedicate a song to him! Make sure he’ll hear it while he’s on the road—or while you’re together.

Day 12 -
Write him little notes of encouragement or love and stuff them where he’ll least expect to find them—in the pocket of his pants, in his gym bag, on his car visor.

Day 13 –
Does he have a close friend or family member who lives abroad? Arrange for a surprise Skype date.

Day 14 - If he has to do chores or errands, help him and bring along snacks and his favorite music to make it a fun experience.

Day 15 – Ask him what he’s always wanted to do in life and have fun drawing up elaborate plans to do it.

Day 16 – What’s his favorite number? Write that many things you love about him on little strips of paper. Put them in a jar, tie a ribbon around it, and give it to him.

Day 17 – Send an email or a text blast to all the people who love him and ask them to give reasons why he’s such a great guy. Compile all of these in a scrapbook and surprise him with it.

Day 18 –
Out of the blue, thank him for being such a great guy.

Day 19
When you’re in front of other people, brag about what an awesome guy he is. Just don’t go overboard on the mush or you’ll turn everyone off.

Day 20 – Compliment him at least five times today.

Day 21 – Hold his hand in public.

Day 22 – Make him a poster that says, “Thank you for loving me the way you do” and stick it on his bedroom ceiling so it’s the first thing he sees when he wakes up. Make sure you stick it well – you don’t want it falling on his face!

Day 23 – Treat him to his favorite restaurant.

Day 24 – Does he have a hobby you think is insane? Like maybe collecting toys or comic books? Buy him something to add to his collection.

Day 25 – Take the letters of his name and come up with adjectives beginning with those letters that positively describe him. You can write this on a card he’ll treasure forever.

Day 26 –
Is there a chore he keeps putting off? Offer to do it for him and ease that burden for good.

Day 27 – Buy him a shirt in his favorite color.

Day 28 – Publicly thank him for something on Facebook or Twitter.

Day 29 – Ask him what childhood memory he’s always cherished and do your best to recreate it.

Day 30 – Print out and frame a photo of both of you—or maybe of just him doing something he loves or on an awesome vacation. Perfect for his desk at work!

Day 31 – The minute you see him, drop what you’re doing, jump up and give him a huge hug and a kiss and tell him, “Now I can be happy again.”
