Make a chain necklace out of popsicle sticks

Be in the loop and get yourself linked – that is, with this stylish and elegant wooden chain necklace.

It’s good reason not to throw away those popsicle sticks because each link of the accessory is made out of them.

Who knew popsicle sticks could be so chic?

Materials needed:

  • Several pieces popsicle sticks, wooden tongue depressors or craft sticks
  • Wooden glue
  • All-purpose glue
  • Toilet paper tube
  • Canvas cord
  • Wood stain or varnish (optional)

Step 1: Soak popsicle sticks overnight to make them pliable.

Step 2: Gently bend to the inside of a glass or cup to form a ring. Leave overnight or until it dries.

Step 3: Remove from glass or cup.

Step 4: Link each piece to make a chain.

Step 5: Secure the ends of the popsicle sticks with wooden glue. Insert into a toilet paper tube to keep it in place until the glue dries.

This step is best done in batches. Wait until one “link” dries before you start with another link.

Step 6: Varnish or stain if desired. Let it dry.

Step 7: Cut canvas cord to desired length.

Step 8: Pass one end of canvas cord through popsicle sticks on each end of the “chain” and tie a knot.
