Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence go head-to-head for the same role!

They’ve both been catapulted to fame, thanks to the young adult fiction-turned-blockbusters trilogy that are Twilight and The Hunger Games, and now the two starlets are literally going head-to-head for the role of Peyton Loftis in the indie screen-adaptation of William Styron’s 1951 novel, ‘Lie Down in Darkness.’

The iconic story – which William Styron wrote when he was only 26 - follows a dysfunctional family in Virginia, America and focusses on Peyton, who’s oppressive and emotionally remote life eventually leads to her committing suicide. It’s heavy stuff but both Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence are ready to fight for the troubled role and have expressed their possessiveness of the part to the press already…

K-Stew recently told Elle, ‘I want to play Peyton more than anything I can possibly taste or touch in my life. I want to play her so bad. They're the most f**ked-up family. There's a script adaptation... and it's good. Two people vying for the part (of the father) are Daniel Day-Lewis and Colin Firth. Daniel would be perfect.’ While J-Law told W magazine, ‘I am obsessed with that part. I have this feeling of protectiveness over characters I want to play... If someone else gets the part, I'm afraid they won't do it right. I'm trying to write the director... to convince him that I should be in his movie. I'll chase him if I have to. I'll sit outside his house.’

Looks like director Scott Cooper has a VERY tough decision to make before filming starts next year. Let the games begin…
