Katie Holmes and Emmanuelle Alt Crack Out The White Jeans. Should You?

A polarising trouser choice, the white jean has taken on almost mythical status in terms of fashion etiquette. While the American old guard insist white jeans shouldn’t be seen before Memorial Day (the last Monday of May) or after Labor Day (the first Monday in September), high fashion labels including Balmain, Givenchy and Theyskens Theory have been promoting the white jean trend for spring – now to be found on a shop floor near you.

Katie Holmes and Emmanuelle Alt Crack Out The White Jeans. Should You?

Taking the white jeans plunge this week is Katie Holmes, and we have to admit, it’s a step up from her regular mumsy fare.  The skinny cut, tucked into a pair of camel suede boots is a well matched pairing and adds a hint of ritz to her low key look. But she has some serious competition for the crown of the white jeans queen.

Our bid for the crown has to be Emmanuelle Alt. Working the virginal jean for both the March and October shows at Paris Fashion Week, the French Vogue Editor breaks all the weather related rules. Her current choice is a cropped style which she works with pointy pumps and sandals or a ruched black boot. Paired with a louche shirt, artfully ticked into a vintage look belt with a blazer or fur to ward against the chill, her winter whites look just appropriate as her summer styles.

We particularly love the snap of her and her fellow Voguette Geraldine Saglio both rocking the white jeans in the rain.
