That’s exactly what Elle Uy did, an interior design enthusiast, who turned her love for home decor from a hobby (using her Switcheroom blog as an outlet) into a living. Just like her, you don't need to be an interior designer to pull off these DIY (do-it-yourself) home decorations she shared with us.
All images are from Elle Uy
1. Do you have a bare wall in your living room and you don’t know what to do with it? Install a frame gallery! You could go for matching frames, monochromatic, or totally random. And yes, you could even frame your clock.
3. Don’t let your collection go to waste, use them as accent pieces. Organize your shelves and tables with dinnerware, books, magazines, paintings, and photographs. Feel free to create your own look.
4. Decorate your letter holder with wall stamps. Make your own holder with board, fabric, and garter strips, or buy a ready-made one. For the stamps, search for designs online and have them printed, then post them on your wall.

5. If you’re a creative genius like Elle Uy’s boyfriend, Yuseff Aguell, why don’t you create your very own fork wall art? Dig through your kitchen drawers and put those old utensils to good use.
6. Make your own chandelier with an old fan and capiz screen. Hang the capiz strands on the fan wires and have an electrician tackle wiring and electricity. (Click here for a step-by-step guide)
7. Don’t throw old issues of magazines just yet, you could still create cheap pop art with them. Flip through the pages and look for something you could work with, frame them and hang. Or let stand on a shelf or floor.
8. Update your bathroom’s look with leftover fabric sewn as curtains or used as wall borders. For the borders, simply cut into strips and glue them on the walls. Cover with another layer of glue and spray with clear acrylic for a glossy finish.
(RANT if it sucks, RAVE if it rocks and get the chance to win exciting prizes!)
9. Own a one-of-a-kind bedside table by creating one made from a gift tray and dress form base. Fix the tray on the base with plywood, then paint. (Click here for a step-by-step guide)
10. Cover the windows behind your bed with a curtain faux wall. Choose a fabric in your desired color and add fake bed frame using a bias tape. Display bright pieces to liven up the wall.
11. Instead of painting an accent wall, opt for wallpapered accent wall, that way you could change it easily once you’re tired of the design. Don’t be afraid to match it with your pillow covers too.
(Once you're done with beautifying your home, fire-proof it!)
12. Redesign an old storage bench with fabric and bias tape. Cover the bench with your chosen fabric, then sew the bias tape in place. That’s one neat storage! (Click here to see the full transformation)
