Hot Trend: "Gangnam Style" wedding videos

If you thought Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" was viral, then brace yourself for the "Gangnam Style" wave. The song is by a South Korean rapper named Psy and was released on July 15, 2012. It started out as a favorite of K-Pop fans. Thanks to social media shares, it soon became a worldwide hit.

Apparently, "Gangnam" refers to Seoul's posh Gangnam district. It's where the trendsetters and purveyors of taste hang out.

The "Gangnam Style" dance, which features movements that are akin to the moves of someone riding a horse, is probably the move of the moment. Just recently, Psy appeared on The Ellen Degeneres Show and taught pop star Britney Spears how to dance "Gangnam Style."

It's not just Spears who's become fixated on the Psy's patented sound and moves. "Gangnam Style" has become a favorite for wedding parties.

People are doing the "Gangnam Style" for their pre-wedding videos, wedding marches, and their reception. The one done by Lightbulb Videography for a Bay Area wedding is most likely the most well-done "Gangnam Style" video as far as we know. In fact, it was also one of the clips highlighted in an Inside Edition feature. (Note: The video content is restricted on the site. Please click this link to watch it on YouTube.) In any case, just type "Gangnam Style wedding" on your YouTube search and you'll get to see even more videos of wedding ceremony participants having a whole lot of fun doing the "Gangnam Style" dance.

Meanwhile, Psy is cashing in on the "Gangnam Style" wave. He has just signed with Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun. Of course, he also has detractors who have accused him of being a "rip off." Either way, it's clear that a lot of people are following Psy's advice to "Dress classy and dance cheesy." For the record, as of September 14, Psy's "Gangnam Style" video already had over 166 million views. Today, September 18, it had over 211 million views. Like it or hate it, you can no longer escape it.
