World Breastfeeding Week takes place in over 120 countries to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. It was begun some 20 years ago by WHO and UNICEF policy-makers to protect, promote and support breastfeeding. Zumba Convention

August 9-12

Not surprisingly, 2012 will be another hot year for Zumba, a global fitness craze that combines a variety of dance and cardio elements. Zumba oganizers are holding its biggest members-only party to help fitness professionals share new spinoff Zumba techniques, fashion, foods, and music. The four-day festival is described as a "Zumba playground" with over 3,500 Zumba network professionals in attendance.

Canfitpro International Trade Show

Some 10,000 fitness enthusiasts are expected to attend Toronto's fitness blowout trade event, Canfitpro, one of the largest fitness events of its kind and now in its 20th year. Similar to Los Angeles's IDEA World Fitness Convention, the event offers up-and-coming techniques a chance to gain wider appeal in the Canadian market.

Natural Products Expo Asia

In a region where health and well-being top consumer priorities, the Natural Products Expo Asia show is an important trade show for industries hoping to set foot in the Eastern marketplace. Natural and organic food sales have grown by almost threefold over the last decade to US$85 billion and China has consistently outperformed the global market since 1995. This year's show is forecast to bring 250 exhibitors to the region and attract 10,000 visitors. The show is open to the public August 25.

This festival continues to grow every year, with a smattering of events in North America, including urban one-day events in LA, New York, and San Francisco. This year's headliners in Whistler - the last of the summer series of Wanderlust events - include Baron Baptiste, Seane Corne, Marianne Williamson, and Michael Franti and Spearhead.

IHRSA/Fitness Brazil Latin American Conference and Trade Show

Now in its 13th year, this São Paulo event features three days of seminars, networking opportunities, and a trade show with more than 100 exhibitors and 10,000 visitors. According to IHRSA, Brazil is the second largest worldwide fitness market as measured by number of fitness centers: more than 18,000. Los Angeles also hosts an IHRSA convention and trade show in March.
