Why Fasting Once A Week is Good For You

Why Fasting Once A Week is Good For You

We all go through the religious phase once in a while and decide to go on fasting for a day for our own selfish reasons.

Studies have shown that fasting once a week can protect you against Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Fasting one or two days in a week helps you detoxicate all the junk that you intake through the week and help you live longer. So if you are still wondering how exactly does this work, read on to find out:

Cuts the calories

Fasting once a week is also called intermittent fasting. Your calorie intake plays a very important role in managing your weight. Intermittent fasting helps in calorie break down. The key components involved in losing weight are eating less and sweating-out more. This fasting regime will help you reduce your food intake. And 24 hours is a sufficient time in order to cut down your calories.

Easy to follow

There are a variety of diets that one can follow. There are ones that last for weeks, and a few last for months. It is very difficult to stick to these diets, primarily because these diets involve cutting down on all good foods. So now that you tried and failed in following all these fancy diet plans, try this one. You can eat your regular meals through the week and maintain discipline just one day. Having said that, it is important that you still watch what you eat during the week.

Freedom diet

We call it the freedom diet as you can select when you want to do it. Throughout the week you can eat normally without having to worry. But, the healthier your food intake, the more positive will be your weight loss results. Also as you eat regularly there are no less chances of feel weak and lethargic. This will help you stick to a proper workout routine. So the day you feel you have crossed your calorie count for the day, go fasting the next day to balance it out.

This way of fasting once a week is a good way to detox yourself and sounds very easy to follow. But make sure that your water intake does not go down the required level. Also, it is extremely important to understand that just because you fast once a week, you can't be free to eat whatever you like rest of the days. This might not show you immediate results but will have long term implications on your health. So watch what you eat and how you eat in order to live a long and healthy life.
