Many may argue that there are no hard and fast rules when it comes to makeup application. But, if you want your makeup to look more professionally done, you have to have the help of the right tools and brushes.
Here are some of the basic brushes every woman should have in her kikay kit:
1. Powder brush
This large and fluffy brush is used to set your makeup or to apply that final touch of powder. You will look more natural than if you used a sponge or the puff that comes with your pressed powder. To use: swirl the brush in your loose powder or compact, tap off the excess and apply on face.
2. Concealer brush
This looks a bit like a paintbrush and is used to smooth over blemishes and discoloration. To use: dip brush into your pot of concealer and pat (don’t brush) on to blemished areas. Finish off with powder to set the concealer.
3. Foundation brush
A foundation brush is flat with long bristles that are soft to the touch. While it is absolutely okay to apply foundation with a sponge or even your fingers, a foundation brush offers a flawless finish every time especially when used with liquid concealer. The brush actually saves on product because a sponge tends to absorb most of the foundation you put on it.
4. Blush brush
This looks like a smaller version of your powder brush. Apply bronzer to your cheekbones first and then blush only to the apples of your cheeks. To use: blend the bronzer and blush together well for a natural looking glow.
5. Eye shadow brush
An eye shadow brush has short bristles. For longer lasting eye shadow, apply a cream eye shadow and top off with a powder version of the same color.
6. Blending brush
This is used to blend eye shadow to eliminate streaks and division lines between colors. It has a rounded tip and soft fibers and can be used to blend colors as well as soften eye shadow applied on the crease.
7. Lip brush
Lipsticks are already designed to glide easily on the lips but a lip brush gives a more precise finish and also saves on product.
