As Corvo Atano, disgraced bodyguard to Dishonored's murdered Empress, you have a variety of tools at your disposal and can complete missions in a number of ways -- as seen in this latest pair of trailers.
Co-creative directors Harvey Smith and Raphael Colantonio are on hand to explain how to tackle the October 360, PS3 and PC game's Golden Cat mission in both a non-violent and significantly more bloodthirsty manner.
"There are multiple ways to infiltrate a building" says Raphael. "In this case, we believe there are eight or nine ways in [to the Golden Cat bath house]."
"You could go through the main door, or break a window, or go behind the building."
Such strategic freedom for the player harks back to the Thief, Deus Ex, or Hitman franchises.
Dishonored's main character also has a number of superpowers at his fingertips, such as animal possession.
"We are going to show how you infiltrate the building by possessing a fish."
The second method of mission completion, by means of violence, might seem more straightforward -- it's certainly faster -- but there's a knock-on effect.
"We track the number of innocents that the player kills, and from this we derive the ending as well as little story beats along the way. Playing this way is also very consuming in terms of resources."
