Decode Breakout Areas!

Have you ever wondered why you break out in certain areas of the face, while other parts remain flawless? Some zit flare-ups may be caused by allergic reactions, hygienic omissions or malpractices. But delving deeper, some breakouts may be caused by hormonal imbalance or other inward discrepancies.

Our skin after all is one of the best indicators of our health. While it is the largest organ of our body and is responsible for covering up everything we have inside, it reveals a lot about our innermost workings. This information of course is nothing new. It dates back to as early as 2500 B.C., when the ancient Chinese documented how everything about the body was interrelated, so that when one was experiencing a malady, that particular ailment was never isolated and just treated for what it was. Instead, Chinese doctors then already knew that the sickness or imbalance was only a symptom of something else happening inside.

Fast forward to today, where dermatologists, skin professionals, and wellness experts still use this ancient art of skin analysis, more popularly known as Face Mapping. This method gives a general direction towards why our skin behaves the way it does. If you want to skim the surface of this interesting method of skin analysis, take a look at the chart below. Please note that what we outline here is simply a general idea of Face Mapping, and should therefore not be taken as medical advice.

Forehead
Superficially speaking bangs, sweat, and makeup allergy may cause breakouts in this area, but Face Mapping aficionados claim that pimples in this area may be due to an imbalance in your digestive system. Avoid eating processed and junk food, and opt instead for fresh food fare and water–lots of it.

In between brows
Facial Mappers believe that the liver and stomach may be imbalanced when you break out in this spot. If you are heavy on the dairy intake, try reducing the amount you take in and see if this helps reduce the acne or inflammation here.

Temples
Excessive amounts of “heat” in the body (also known as the “yang” element) supposedly cause pimples in this area. To combat the overproduction of such heat, FM experts believe one must drink more water, and take in other “cool” or “yang” elements such as watermelon, pear, tomato, cucumber, and seaweed.

Nose

An overproduction of oil by the sebaceous glands in the nasal area may be due to an allergic reaction to makeup or skin care products, but a deeper cause may be issues with the heart, claim Facial Mapping practitioners. A high cholesterol and fat-laden diet tampers with circulation, and toxins supposedly try to escape through the skin, hence the overdrive in oil production. The remedy: Half an hour of low to moderate exercise and cutting down on fat and cholesterol.

Cheeks

Unhygienic makeup and makeup tools, allergy towards makeup, and not removing makeup, may be some reasons why we break out in the cheek area. However, other reasons may also be a kink in the respiratory system. If you smoke or are exposed to a smoking environment, or if you are generally allergic, Facial Mappers believe these are some of the reasons why you’re experiencing skin troubles in this area. Expose yourself to fresh, clean air and lessen alcohol, meat, and dairy products, which supposedly increase the acidic levels of the body.

Chin and Jaw

Allergy to your toothpaste or mouthwash may cause zits in the area below your mouth, but these breakouts may also mean you need jumpstart your digestive system. Facial Mapping experts suggest upping fiber intake and drinking herbal teas to help improve bowel movement.
