Cruises: ten giant cruise ships sailing the Seven Seas

Cruise companies are launching huge cruise ships that resemble floating cities which can carry thousands of passengers. As the cruise community gets ready to set eyes on MSC's massive Preziosa, set to sail this March, a quick look at the biggest ships that are currently sailing the Seven Seas.

Allure of the Seas
The Allure of the Seas owned by Royal Caribbean has a passenger capacity of 5400. The ship is 361 meters long and has 16 passenger decks.

Oasis of the Seas
The Oasis of the Seas, sister ship of the Allure of the Seas, also has a passenger capacity of 5400. Royal Caribbean, which owns the 360-meter liner has ordered a third identical one from the Saint Nazaire shipyards in France.

MSC Divina
With a passenger capacity of 4345, MSC Divina welcomes its passengers across 18 decks. The liner is 333.3 meters long. The ship boasts Italian actress Sophia Loren as its godmother.

MSC Preziosa
MSC Preziosa, which is in the same class as MSC Divina, has a passenger capacity of about 4345. The cruise company's new jewel will be launched in March. Its features include a water park with the largest slide ever built on a cruise ship.

Freedom of the Seas
This other Royal Caribbean liner which is smaller than the Oasis class (Allure and Oasis of the Seas) can still carry up to 4300 passengers. The Freedom of the Seas is 339 meters long and has been setting sail since 2006.

Norwegian Epic
Norwegian Cruise Line's Norwegian Epic has 19 passenger decks which about 4100 passengers can enjoy. It is 329 meters long and holidaymakers can climb aboard for transatlantic and Mediterranean journeys.

Disney Fantasy
Disney Cruise's fourth liner, Disney Fantasy, can welcome up to 4000 passengers across 14 decks. This ship, aimed at families, offers entertainment for children such as a Muppets show.

Costa Fascinosa
Costa Cruises' 16th ship, the Costa Fascinosa, launched last May, has a passenger capacity of 3800. It is billed as the largest Italian cruise ship. The boat was designed around 14 decks.

Carnival Breeze
The Carnival Breeze, described as a "fun ship," because of all of the onboard entertainment has a passenger capacity of 3690. The ship which was launched last June travels along the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

Queen Mary 2
The Transatlantic cruise company Cunard's Queen Mary 2, welcomes 3873 passengers (including 1253 crew) on 14 decks. It is the modern replica of the Queen Mary which cruised the Atlantic between 1936 and 1967 but it is 34.44 meters longer than its big sister (345 meters).
