Nothing can change the mood of a room more than color.
Use it subtly by changing the theme of your pillows and bed linens. Or, make it drastic by repainting the walls or redoing your curtains and carpets.
If you find that pairing hues can be quite a challenge, here are a few combinations that can inspire you.
You can apply these colors in any room through the use of accessories, fixtures, paint, wallpaper, upholstery and flooring.

Major shades: Silver and gold, hot pink, black
How to achieve the look: With mirrored and mosaic surfaces on cabinets, coffee tables and lightning fixtures. Temper the glitter with shag area rugs or bright graphic wall art.

WORLD TRAVELER
Earthy hues that recall African safaris or backpacking through the back alleys of Bangkok.
