Christie's exhibition and auction presents iconic London imagery

The British auction house Christie's is putting together a London-themed summer exhibition and auction including a selection of iconic design objects. The exhibition opens on July 27 and will end with an auction of the items on display on September 3.

The display provides an opportunity for London lovers and visitors to explore the city's history through its symbols. It includes iconic 167 objects, including pictures and prints, grouped into different topics such as Rock and Roll, Royal, and Olympic Games.

The exhibition includes a 1966 AEC London Routemaster double-decker bus (estimate: £20,000-30,000), a "Keep Calm and Carry On" poster, produced by the UK government at the start of WWII in 1939 (estimate: £800 - 1,200), and a 1977 Sex Pistols "God Save the Queen" promotional poster (estimate $2,000 - $3,000).

Also on display: an original vintage poster advertising travel to London by rail (estimate: £3,000-5,000), a photograph of Amy Winehouse by Terry O'Neill (estimate: £ 5,000 - 6,000) and a first place Olympic Medal from the Athens Games of 1896 (estimate £20,000 - £30,000). Items will start at £500, with important paintings expected to fetch up to £200,000.

The exhibition and auction will take place at the South Kensington salesroom in London.
