Buckingham Palace opens its doors late June

With the Queen's diamond jubilee in June and the Olympic Games in July-August, London is a tourist hotspot this year. One of the UK's top attractions, royal residence Buckingham Palace will open its doors to visitors this year on June 30, for the public to see in person this stately place as well as take in a special exhibit created for the anniversary celebrations, called "Diamonds : A Jubilee Celebration," where a tiara will be on display.

Open for eight weeks, the palace -- which totals 775 rooms -- will welcome visitors to the State Rooms including the throne room, the dining room, garden and the portrait gallery.

The exhibit dedicated to Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee will allow the public to see two unique jewels -- her coronation necklace and earring set featuring 25 diamonds and a necklace received as birthday gift for the queen's 21st birthday from the South African goverment, according to Great Britain's tourism office.
